Senator Orie Announces Property Tax/Rent Rebate Deadline Extension

Senator Jane Clare Orie (R-40), Majority Whip, announces that the Pennsylvania Department of Revenue has extended the deadline to apply for the property tax/rent rebate program from June 30, 2007 to December 31, 2007.  The program is available to all eligible Pennsylvanians age 65 and older; widows and widowers age 50 and older, and people with disabilities age 18 and older.

The household income limits have been increased, making this program available to more Pennsylvania residents.  Expanded household incomes limits and rebate amounts are:

$0 - $8,000 $650 rebate
$8,001 - $15,000 $500 rebate
$15,001 - $18,000 $300 rebate
$18,001 - $35,000 $250 rebate

"Programs like this were created to benefit the citizens of Pennsylvania," said Orie.  "The property tax/rent rebate program provides much needed financial relief for many of our seniors.  I encourage all eligible individuals to apply."

Applications are available online or by calling the Department of Revenue at 1-888-222-9190.  For more information, contact Senator Orie's North Hills office at 412-630-9466, Cranberry office at 724-776-3500, or Harrisburg office at 717-787-6538.
